According to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, both Barcelona and Manchester City are interested in signing Spain international midfielder Dani Olmo.
The attacking midfielder is currently playing in the Bundesliga with Marco Rose’s RB Leipzig but is supposedly of interest to the defending Spanish and English champions.
The 25-year-old would reportedly cost around £50 million with Manchester City having already been linked with the likes of Jamal Musiala and Lucas Paqueta as they target an extra attacking midfield option amid suggestions Kevin De Bruyne may depart the Etihad Stadium as he enters the final year of his deal in east Manchester.
Dani Olmo, born in the Catalan city of Terrassa, began his youth career at Espanyol before then moving to city rivals Barcelona. He left Barca at the age of 16, though, and began his professional career in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb a year later.
After five years in the Croatian capital with Dinamo, he joined Leipzig for a fee believed to be in the region of £17 million in the January transfer window of 2020.
Internationally he has been capped 33 times and scored eight goals for the Spanish national side and is expected to be a key part of Luis de la Fuente’s squad at UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany this summer.
