Leipzig started their Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Young Boys in Bern.
The visitors started the game with an explosive pace and their early intensity paid off as just three minutes in, they broke the deadlock as Mohamed Simakan's deflection from a corner found the net, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up.
Leipzig's relentless pressure continued, with Xavi Simons and Loïs Openda narrowly missing chances to extend their lead.
However, Young Boys showed resilience as the first half progressed, managing longer spells of possession and eventually equalising at the 33rd minute through a brilliant solo effort from Meschack Elia.
The Swiss side began to find their rhythm, but Leipzig remained a constant threat on the counter-attack.
The second half saw Leipzig attempting to regain control, with several near misses and a contentious penalty decision that went against them.
The hosrs tried to responded, but Leipzig's quality shone through. Xaver Schlager's long-range strike in the 73rd minute restored Leipzig's lead, and despite Young Boys' late push, Leipzig secured the victory in injury time with a counter-attack, as Benjamin Sesko calmly slotted home.
