Eddie Nketiah's first-ever Premier League hat-trick propelled Arsenal to a convincing 5-0 victory over Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium.
Action: At the beginning of the match, Arsenal displayed control and comfort in possession but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities.
The first noteworthy chance came from a superb long through ball by David Raya, reaching Gabriel Martinelli deep in Sheffield's territory, who entered the box and set up Bukayo Saka, but the shot didn't materialise.
Then, midway the first-half Arsenal shifted into a higher gear. A fantastic pass from Declan Rice found Eddie Nketiah, who displayed exceptional skill by turning past Aaron Trusty before finishing superbly, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Saka and Martinelli combined again in the 40th minute, after excellent work on the left wing by the Englishman led to a chance for the Brazilian in the box, where he created space for a powerful left-footed shot that was well saved by Wes Foderingham.
Five minutes into the second half, Mikel Arteta's men extended their lead. Saka's corner was parried by the goalkeeper, but Nketiah was in the right place to score a top-notch goal, making it 2-0 for Arsenal.
The north London side added a third goal shortly after, with Nketiah completing his hat-trick via an absolutely stunning strike from the edge of the box, making it 3-0 for Arsenal.
Throughout the second-half, Arsenal continued to dominate possession and in complete control of the game.
In the final 10 minutes, Arsenal had a late penalty appeal after Fabio Vieira's Achilles was kicked by Oliver Norwood. VAR reviewed the incident, and after some delay, the penalty was awarded and the Portuguese took the penalty himself and converted it, making it 4-0 for Arsenal.
In added time, Takehiro Tomiyasu made it five for the Gunners after the ball fell to him from a Vieira corner, and the Japan international reacted quickly to poke it home sealing a 5-0 victory for Arsenal.
Big Picture: With this result, Arsenal climbed to second place in the Premier League, just two points behind Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United remains at the bottom of the table and is the only team in the Premier League yet to secure a win, following Bournemouth's victory over Burnley.
Next up, Arsenal will play a London derby against West Ham on Wednesday in Carabao Cup's fourth round.
On the other hand, the Blades will attempt to secure their first victory in their 11th attempt when they face Wolves at Bramall Lane on November 4.
