In the first half, Jack Hinshelwood and Pascal Gross of Brighton faced strong resistance from West Ham's goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who made crucial saves to keep the score level.
The trend continued into the second half, with Brighton maintaining dominance in possession. Areola was once again forced into action, making a sharp save from Pervis Estupinan's low shot in the 55th minute.
Shortly after, Joao Pedro's attempt on goal from a skillful run was stopped by the French goalkeeper.
West Ham's clearest chance in the second half came when Tomas Soucek poked wide from six yards. On the other hand, Jakub Moder for Brighton missed a close-range shot in the closing minutes.
The result leaves West Ham and Brighton in the sixth and seventh positions on the table, respectively.
