Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded their first-ever Premier League win at Stamford Bridge thanks to a Matheus Cunha hat-trick.
It was Chelsea who took the lead in the game in the 19th minute when Moisés Caicedo played in a perfectly-weighted pass for Cole Palmer to run onto and finish.
But that lead last just a matter of minutes. Chelsea were guilty of losing the ball in midfield giving space for João Gomes to run into. The Brazilian found his compatriot Matheus Cunha on the left who cut inside and found the net with the help of a hefty deflection to mean Djordje Petrovic had no chance.
There was an element of luck to Wolves' second as well. Pedro Neto had space on the right and his low cross was met by Rayan Aït-Nouri and went int the net after then bouncing off Axel Disasi – one that will go down as an own goal for the Chelsea man.
The visitors third goal came in the 63rd minute when Pedro Neto cut the ball back for Cunha to get his second goal of the game.
Cunha completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute from the penalty spot. It was Cunha himself who won the penalty when he was brought down by Malo Gusto.
The forward kept his cal to send Petrovic the wrong way and wrap his hat-trick to make it 4-1 to Wolves and pile the misery on Maurico Pochettino's side.
Chelsea did reduce the deficit though. A corner from Mykhaylo Mudryk was converted by the veteran defender but it was too late for the Blues to stage a late fight back.
Gary O'Neil's side now move ahead of Chelsea and up into 10th place in the league as pressure mounts on the Chelsea boss.
