Paris Saint-Germain will take a two-goal lead into the second leg of their last 16 tie with Real Sociedad.
The French side should have taken the lead early on when Kylian Mbappé was played through on goal but the forward couldn't put his effort past goalkeeper Álex Remiro.
La Real were always going to be a difficult opponent for PSG though and looked good throughout much of the first half with Takefusa Kubo impressing.
The visitors were close to getting on the scoresheet just before half-time when Mikel Merino had time and space on the edge of PSG's area to get his shot off that bounced off of Gigi Donnarumma's crossbar.
Luis Enrique's side were much improved in the second half – as they had to be to keep up with the Basque side – and took the lead in the 58th minute. A corner from the right was met by Marquinhos with Mbappé then having space to fire in from close range.
Les Parisiennes doubled their lead in the 70th minute, this one a solo effort from Bradley Barcola who had the ball on the right and kept running at a tiring Sociedad defence before slotting the ball past Remiro.
In the end, it was a deserved win for PSG for their second-half performance and they will now take a commanding lead into the second leg in San Sebastián.
