Marcel Sabitzer's goal sent Borussia Dortmund into the semi-finals after a topsy-turvy game against Atlético Madrid.
Dortmund started the first leg against Atlético in Spain in shambolic fashion but they were far more assured in front of their own fans in the second leg.
After enjoying most of the ball, the home side took the lead in the 34th minute when Oscar Brandt squeezed in his shot from the left after receiving Mats Hummels' fine pass.
That goal made it 2-2 on aggregate with Dortmund then taking the lead in the tie in the 39th minute when Ian Maatsen, on loan from Chelsea, burst into the penalty area and rifled a low shot past Jan Oblak. That goal made it 2-0 to BVB on the night and 3-2 to the German side on aggregate.
But Atleti fought back in the second period and managed to get themselves ahead in the tie once again.
There was some fortune about the first Atlético goal as Hummels accidentally put the ball in his own net while attempting an interception.
But that lead for Atlético lasted just seven minutes when Marcel Sabitzer put in a ball from the left that Niclas Füllkrug rose highest to meet to level the aggregate score.
After setting one up, it was Sabitzer who then scored what would be the decisive goal just a few minutes later. The former Bayern Munich and Manchester United man picked up the ball on the edge of the area as Dortmund continued to pile on the pressure and was able to find the corner of the net with a precise shot to raise the roof of the Westfalenstadion.
The game eventually finished 4-2 to Dortmund on the night with the German side winning 5-4 on aggregate. Borussia Dortmund now progress to the Champions League semi-final for the first time in 11 years.
