According to self-proclaimed football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has agreed an extension to his contract with Los Blancos.

There was a slight feeling that the 34-year-old German may retire at the end of the season but instead he has now signed a deal that will keep him contracted at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2025.

Kroos recently came out of international retirement and played a crucial role in Germany’s back-to-back friendly victories over France and the Netherlands during the March international break and will be a key man for Die Mannschaft when they host UEFA EURO 2024 this summer.

Kroos has enjoyed an excellent campaign for Real Madrid this season with Carlo Ancelotti’s 14-time European champions now categorised as champions-elect in La Liga.

Kroos joined Madrid in the summer of 2014 for a fee of around £21.5 million from Bayern Munich, where he began his professional career. He has gone on to make 455 appearances for Madrid and is now expected to surpass the 500 mark before the end of his deal.

During his career, he has won three Bundesliga and three La Liga titles as well as three DFB-Pokals, one Copa del Rey, a DFL-Supercup, four Supercopa de Espana, five UEFA Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups and six FIFA Club World Cups.

Internationally, he has been capped 107 times for the German national team and was a key cog in the team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
